Student Gamification That Brings Learners Back on Their Own
Student gamification is a built-in motivation system where learners earn coins for useful actions (an attended lesson, on-time homework, a vocabulary session), climb levels, receive stickers from their teacher, and trade coins for real rewards your school sets up. Instead of discounts and nagging, a student has a daily reason to open the app — and ends up missing fewer lessons.
What do students earn coins for?
Coins are the core currency of gamification, and students earn them automatically: when a teacher marks a lesson complete, when homework is submitted before the deadline, and when a spaced-repetition vocabulary session is finished. Nothing is awarded by hand — the system counts on its own. What each action is worth is up to the school owner: give more for lessons and less for homework, or the reverse, to match your priorities.
- Coins for attended lessons, on-time homework and vocabulary sessions
- Awarded automatically the moment a lesson is completed or homework is submitted
- The coin value of every action is set by the school owner
10 levels and a reward shop you put together
Accumulated coins move students through 10 levels. The school chooses one of two ready-made themes — nautical or neutral; level names and thresholds are fixed within each theme. In the reward shop, you add your own items and set their coin prices. A student places an order, an admin approves it, and rejected orders return the coins.
- 10 levels in a ready-made nautical or neutral theme
- Your school stocks the reward catalog and sets prices in coins
- Orders are approved in one click; rejection refunds coins in full
Teacher stickers — an emotional bond, not a grade
A sticker is an instant "I see how hard you're trying" sent personally by the teacher. Giving one takes two clicks, right from the lesson screen or a homework review: tap "Sticker" → choose an image — and the student sees it in their cabinet immediately, signed with who it's from and what it's for. The system ships with a built-in set ("Well done", "Great effort", "Star of the week") plus custom stickers your school adds. Some stickers the system awards itself — for a first homework submitted or a first no-miss streak.
- Gifted in two clicks, straight from a lesson or homework review
- Built-in sticker set plus your school's own custom stickers
- Auto-awards for milestones — first homework, first no-miss streak
Streaks and vocabulary that build a daily habit
A streak is the number of consecutive active days. Milestones at 7, 30 and 100 days award fixed bonuses of 20, 75 and 250 coins. The spaced-repetition vocabulary trainer surfaces today’s words, pronounces them and offers several practice modes. The group leaderboard covers the latest 30 days.
- Bonus coins for streaks at 7, 30 and 100 days
- SRS vocabulary surfaces today's reviews, with audio pronunciation
- The group leaderboard is a rolling 30 days, not a lifetime total
Frequently asked questions
Can we turn gamification off?
Yes. One school-wide switch turns gamification on or off for the whole tenant. There is currently no separate switch for an individual group. Scheduling, the journal and finances continue to work independently of this setting.
Can we tailor the rewards and the value of each action to our school?
The owner sets coin values for an attended lesson, on-time homework and a vocabulary session, while the school fills the reward shop with its own items and prices. The built-in sticker set can be extended with custom designs. Levels use a ready-made nautical or neutral theme; their names and thresholds, as well as streak bonuses, are not configurable.
Where do the real rewards in the shop come from — is it an extra cost for the school?
The rewards and their coin price are entirely up to you. The shop is your own catalog: you add whatever you're willing to hand out (a book, a sticker pack, a bonus lesson, school merch) and set the price yourself. Mimiao sells nothing — it just keeps track: a student places an order, an admin approves it in one click, coins are deducted and the item is given out; reject it and the coins return in full. So how much you spend on prizes, and on what, is entirely the school's call.
