For private tutors
Software for online tutors that replaces your spreadsheets
Mimiao is software for online tutors working solo: your schedule, lesson log, payment tracking and each student's lesson balance in one place, right from your phone.
You're the teacher, the admin and the bookkeeper all at once. The schedule lives in your head, payments live in your notes, and who has had how many lessons lives in a spreadsheet that no longer adds up. On top of that you have to remember who needs a payment nudge and whose lessons are about to run out. It's not that you're careless — it's just too much for a notebook and Excel.
A clean lesson log instead of ten browser tabs
One calendar for every student: recurring lessons fill in as a series, one-offs take seconds to add. Teach a lesson, mark it, and it's already in your history. No more “when was our last lesson?” and no copy-pasting rows in a spreadsheet.
- Series and one-off lessons in one calendar
- Mark a lesson taught in two taps
- Every lesson keeps its history: when, and what happened
How do you track payments and lesson balances?
Every student has a lesson balance: teach a lesson and it's deducted, log a payment and it's topped up. You can see at a glance who's running low and who already owes, so money stops slipping between notes and chats. Payment records aren't overwritten one on top of another — each amount keeps its own history.
- Each student's lesson balance updates itself
- See who's running low on lessons and who owes
- Payment tracking with real history, not “whoever saved last”
Gamification and vocabulary — what no spreadsheet can offer
The Solo plan isn’t just a log with payments. Your students earn coins for lessons and homework, receive stickers from you, and practice words in a spaced-repetition vocabulary trainer with audio — so they keep practicing between lessons on their own. For a private tutor it’s the easiest way to stand out: this kind of motivation usually exists only in big schools, and it's included in your plan from day one.
- Coins, levels and stickers — big-school motivation
- SRS vocabulary with audio: practice between lessons without you
- All included in the Solo plan, no extra fees
Your whole practice in your pocket
The Solo plan is $9/mo (or $7/mo billed annually) for one teacher and up to 40 active students. Everything works from your phone — mark a lesson between classes, log a payment on the go, glance at tomorrow's schedule in the morning. And students and parents get their own cabinets, so you field far fewer “when's the lesson?” and “how much do we owe?” messages.
- Solo plan: $9/mo, 1 teacher, up to 40 active students
- Mobile-first: run everything from your phone
- Student and parent cabinets — fewer back-and-forth messages
Frequently asked questions
How much does the Solo plan cost?
Solo is $9/mo or $84/year ($7/mo effective) for one teacher and up to 40 active students. It includes the schedule, lesson journal, homework, manual and online payments, lesson balances, the student cabinet, SRS vocabulary and basic gamification. Studio and above add automations, analytics, leads, expenses, course authoring, referrals, the reward shop and parent invitations. The 14-day trial is free and needs no card.
Can I run everything from my phone?
Yes. Mimiao is mobile-first: marking a lesson taught in “My Day” with two taps, logging a payment, rescheduling a class or checking a student's balance all work straight from your phone, even between classes. There's no separate app to install — you open the site in your phone's browser and work, and everything syncs at once. Students and parents sign into their own cabinets from a phone too, so you forward far less by hand.
Is it hard to switch from a spreadsheet or notebook?
No. If you have a lot of students, import them from Excel or CSV: the system checks the data and flags duplicates and empty fields before anything appears in your base. And if you only have a handful, it's simpler to add them by hand in one evening — and from then on your whole practice lives in one place, not across a notebook, notes and chats. You can keep the old spreadsheet alongside at first while you settle in.
How is this better than a Google Sheet or notes?
A spreadsheet and notes don't remind anyone, don't track a balance and aren't connected to each other: payments in one file, the schedule in another, agreements buried in chat. Mimiao keeps it all together and works ahead of you: a taught lesson deducts itself from the balance, the system flags who's running low and who owes, and students and parents see their own details in their cabinets. Less evening reconciliation — more time for the lessons themselves.
