Teacher Payouts

Automatic accruals for delivered lessons, statuses from accrued to paid, and a teacher cabinet that shows their own earnings.

Updated:

Calculating teacher pay by hand after every reschedule or cancellation is one of the biggest chores in an online school. In Mimiao, accruals happen automatically: the moment a lesson is delivered, the payout record already exists.

How accruals are created

When a lesson moves to the Delivered status, the system automatically creates an accrual record for the teacher. The amount is calculated from the rate set in the teacher’s profile:

  • Fixed rate per lesson — the same amount regardless of duration.
  • Hourly rate — the amount is proportional to the lesson’s actual duration.

The rate is set by the owner or an admin in the teacher’s profile. You can set different rates for different lesson formats /individual / group).

Important: an accrual is created only for lessons that were actually delivered. Rescheduled, cancelled, or planned lessons produce no accruals — no manual adjustments when the schedule changes.

Accrual statuses

Every accrual moves through just two statuses:

  1. Accrued — the record was just created automatically after the lesson was delivered; it isn’t part of any payout yet.
  2. Paid — the payout was recorded in the system with a single click.

There’s no separate “approved” step: the owner or an admin sees at a glance how much the school owes each teacher, batches the unpaid accruals into a payout, and marks it paid right away — no intermediate confirmation.

When to pay

Each teacher’s card has a payout frequency: weekly, every two weeks, monthly, a custom interval /in days), or manual — in which case a payout is never generated automatically.

The system checks daily who’s due for payment: if a teacher has reached their interval and has unpaid accruals, the owner and admin get a notification with a link straight to the payouts page. You can wait for the automatic schedule or generate a payout manually at any time.

What the teacher sees

Each teacher has their own earnings cabinet /the My Earnings section) with three figures at the top:

  • Accrued this month — the total of all accruals for the current calendar month.
  • Paid — the amount of accruals already paid out.
  • Awaiting payout — the difference that hasn’t been transferred yet.

Below is a feed of lessons with details: date, student/group, duration, accrual amount, and status.

The teacher does not see colleagues’ pay, the school’s finances, or students’ financial data — only their own.

How to make a payout

  1. Go to Finances → Teacher Payouts — the page immediately shows how much the school owes each teacher /the amount, plus the earliest and latest unpaid accrual dates).
  2. Click Generate payout next to the teacher — the system collects every unpaid accrual into one payout.
  3. Optionally attach a payment-proof file.
  4. Click Mark as paid — recorded in a single click, with no separate approval step.

You can mark payouts paid one at a time or several at once /bulk).

Viewing by period

The Finances → Teacher Report section gives you a summary: how many lessons each teacher delivered, the total accruals, the amount paid, and the remaining balance. Handy at month-end close.
